BRUNERF Rules and Regulations (Updated as of 29/08/2010)

1) Due to safety reasons, please wear eye-protection because you will encounter close combat/shootings. We also advice you NOT to run but rather quick pace (To avoid any injuries made). BRUNERF will NOT held responsible for any injuries made during, before or after the game.

2) Players are required to wear covered shoes.

3) If you (The players) have any health problems (Asthma or Heart problems) we, BRUNERF advice you not to play the game as it requires you to move a lot, but if you (The players) insist on playing, let it know that we, BRUNERF will not be held responsible.

4) Formation of Teams – The minimum no of people per team will be 5 people and a maximum of 20 people;

  • a) In each team, there will be 2 captains, One medic and one Shield-man(a Shield-Man is an optional rule)
  • b) If team exceeds the maximum no of players, they can create another division (Team B) but under the same team.
  • c) For players that have no teams, they will be assigned one on the day of the war.
  • d) New teams are required to attend a BRUNERF hosted war to be qualified as an official team

5) Melee Weapons are allowed in the game but player are required to show their Melee Weapon to the Moderators or Admin members for inspection and safety reasons

  • a) Only melee weapons made of foam or inflatable material are allowed. No sharp points or edges.
  • b) No hard strikes by melee weapons.
  • c) Contact weapon (Melee Weapons) requires two hits to the body or one tap to the neck.
  • d) Throwing of Melee weapons are NOT allowed in all games

6) Shields are allowed for a war but MUST be presented to the moderators of the game OR Admin members for inspection.

  • a. During a game, Players are NOT ALLOWED to grab the opponents shield
  • b. The only way to destroy a shield is by using a NERF Rocket (Big bad bow or Big bad Titan)
  • c. The general size of shield is like the size of the car boot tray.
  • d. in each team there will be ONLY ONE shield

7) Modified Nerf Guns are allowed for most games HOWEVER, The modified Blasters must be safe for Players/Users, No sharp points or edges are allowed on modified blasters and MUST be checked by Moderators or Admin Members.

8) Clothes or Uniform – If players choose to wear military style gear for games, they must not wear any uniforms or badges belonging to any real military or para-military force in current operation, as this represents wrongful impersonation of uniformed services, may cause alarm amongst the general public and is against the law.

9) Gun Blaster design;

  • a) BRUNERF Strictly Insists all Players to have the world-recognition orange coloured tip or any other parts such as trigger to indicate your gun as a toy.

10) Foam Dart Designs;

  • a) Stock Nerf foam darts repaired with parts from other stock Nerf foam darts are allowed.
  • b) Stefans (DIY foam darts) made with Foam Backer Rod (FBR) material and soft foam tips are allowed, as long as they match the overall safety aspects of stock Nerf foam darts.
  • c) Stefans (DIY foam darts) that are constructed with solid/metal weights or sharp tips in any form (even if subsequently covered by soft material) are not allowed in games.
  • d) In any case, if Players are using Stefans, they are required to show the darts to the Moderators or Admins members for inspection and Safety reasons.

11) In Games Rules and Conduct:

a) General game play;

· i) No aggressive play.

· ii) No dangerous stunts or actions.

· iii) Players are NOT allowed to hold any part of an opponent's body or weapon (Grappling).

· iv) No intentional aiming at player faces or eyes.

· v) No vulgarities or negative jeering.

· vi) There will be no smoking during the game play.

b) Close Quarter Interaction

· i) No guntaps or aggressive jabbing of players with blasters.

· ii) No hard strikes with any blasters or foam melee weapons.

c) Equipment Management

· i) Ensure that all game props and equipment are used and maintained properly.

· ii) No viewing or handling of other player's blasters and equipment without permission.

· iii) No stealing of blasters, equipment or ammo. Players caught doing so will be referred to the authorities.

· iv) Any misplaced blasters or accessories found must be passed to the game organizer to be returned to the original owner.

12) Post games rules and Conduct;

a) Game Debrief

· i) Players are welcomed to post their feedback and views in the game debrief section.

· ii) No offensive or objectionable photo content or comments are allowed in the game debrief threads.

· iii) In any case of uncertainty in photo content, check with the individuals involved in the photo to seek approval to post.

· iv) Admin members have the right to remove any posted content deemed to be offensive or objectionable.

b) Video Uploads

· i) Videos uploaded to public video websites must not contain any offensive or objectionable footage.

· ii) In any case of uncertainty in video content, upload it as a private video first, then allow the forum community to view and provide feedback before opening it to public viewing.

· iii) Moderators have the right to remove any posted content deemed to be offensive or objectionable.

13) Label your darts and keep your belongings safe (In your car or ask someone close to you to hold your valuables). BRUNERF Will not be held responsible for any lost items I.E. Darts, electronics, wallets etc.

14) BB guns or Air guns or any custom made guns that are banned in Brunei are not allowed to be used during the games. ONLY NERF GUNS are allowed to be used for Nerf Wars. Other brands of guns that shoot Styrofoam darts can be used BUT Admin members must test it for safety purposes as well as validity.

15) Those that arrive late to the event will have to wait for the round to end in order to join the next game.

16) For most matches, each player is allowed to bring a maximum of 100 darts to the field and a maximum of 3 guns and an optional melee weapon.

17) Darts that has been shot cannot be reused or picked up during the game. However you can pick up your darts when you are eliminated from the game or when the round ends.

18) The general rule for the games is simple:

a) For most games, each team is required to have a Medic.

· i) Medic will be armed with a single shot blaster i.e The Maverick or Nite-Finder (A Blaster that shoots not more than 6 darts).

· ii) Medic must wear a strip of cloth that is tied to their bicep as an indication that they are the medic

· iii) When a player is hit by the opposing team, they will have to lie on the floor and call out the medic to be revived.

· iv) The Medic has the ability to heal teammates by placing 'two' hands on the incapacitated player for 3 seconds and yell heal.

b) For some games, Players have 3 lives and when you are shot, you will be eliminated for 15 seconds (The 3 – 15 Rule).

· i) Your gun is an extension of your body which means if your gun got hit, you are eliminated for 15 seconds.

· ii) Arrows or Missiles are counted as a one hit kill.

· iii) Ricochet/bounced darts are counted as a shot.

· iv) The ‘Last stand’ Scenario – When two players fire their weapon at the same time, both players will be counted as being shot

· v) In relation to darts, using normal darts (Whistlers, System clip, suction or tag darts), two shots anywhere around the body = you’re eliminated. Head shot is a one hit kill which means you’re eliminated as well.

· vi) Players that are eliminated will have to move back to their designated base to re-spawn.

· vii) After 15 seconds, when players re-enter the game, they should shout ‘Clear’ as a sign that they are entering the game.

· viii) The game will last a maximum of one hour and/or is played till the last man is standing or eliminated.

· ix) After their 3 lives are finished, players are permanently eliminated from the game and have to wait for the next round to play again.

19) Types of match and the important rules;

a) Assassins match– Its where three players play, one player becomes the assassin and the other two must avoid being killed by the assassin. Main rule of the game is that the assassin has two lives and the players have one life. Game will end when either the assassin or the player is killed.

b) Death match – there are two type of Death-match

· i) By timer – When using a timer, players adopt the 3 – 15 or 4 – 20 elimination rule. Game ends when one team is defeated or when timer stops, has less team members

· ii) By knock-out – this game refers to a last man standing match where players’ battle till one team is down to their last man.

c) Capture the flag – the main idea of this match is that players are required to retrieve the flag of the opponent in order to win the game.

d) Protect the V.I.P. – This game requires a small group of people protecting the V.I.P. from a large group of attackers. The main advantage for the protectors is that they are allowed to carry as many as 4 guns with a 100 limit darts per person where as the attackers are allowed to bring as many as 2 guns to the field with a limit of 50 darts per person. The V.I.P. is allowed to carry a small gun (A Nite finder or Maverick)

e) Gun slinger heaven – Players are ONLY allowed to bring a Nite-Finder to the field. When a player is hit by any darts, they are required to wear a flag on their arms or anywhere that can be seen and if shot for the second time, they are permanently eliminated from the game. However, when a player wearing a flag, shoots at another person with a flag, they will regain an extra life which means that the person can take of the flag. Dart limitations for this game vary according the number of people playing.

f) Zombie VS Humans – this game refers to a small group of survivors going against a group of zombies, which means that if a zombie is shot, they are stunned for 15 seconds and if a survivor is infected, they automatically drop their guns and become zombies. In relation to this, the only way a zombie is to infect humans, is by touching them.

g) Assault – This game is very similar to counter strike in a way that a group of people is assigned to protect a building or an object from a group of people. The only way to end this game is either by eliminating the other team (attackers) or by reaching the objective that the defending team is protecting.

h) DTA Strategy match – In this game,

· i. If players are shot in the torso or leg, you will be down but not out.

· ii. If shot on the arm, that arm cannot be used

· iii. Headshots are strictly prohibited in this game.

· iv. Shooting a downed person will cause them to die, and temporarily leave the match.

· v. Foam sword strikes are an automatic kill.

· vi. Sergeants will lead a squad or team, and have to be designated as the leader somehow. It is possible to have Sergeants wear special clothing.
